Competition Prep Workshop Part 1 | Instructed by Vicky Lovejoy
Join me for a competition prep workshop if you are getting ready to enter a trial, complete your ORT, or just want to explore the idea of competing in the sport of nosework!
This two hour seminar will cover protocol and expectations of the competition environment; comparison of the different scentwork venues; leash handling; reading your dog; and timed practice searches in areas modeling interiors, containers, and exteriors.
Vehicles may be offered if participants can volunteer a vehicle for use. AKC buried hides will be introduced.
Dogs should be comfortable on at least one odor for a working spot while auditors of all levels and interest are welcome.
Part 1 will focus on novice or NW1 skills and handling on May 13.
Part 2 will focus on advanced and NW2/3 searches and handling on May 20. Teams at this level must have dogs working on birch and anise.
Each seminar will be strictly limited to 6 working spots from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
