Animal Chiropractor, Dr. Dave Powell
Hello, I am Dr David Powell.
I am a licensed Chiropractor practicing in Washington state. In addition to treating humans I am a Certified Animal Chiropractor (CAC) as well as a member of the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA).
My interest in Animal Chiropractic began when my 15 year old dog started having problems walking and standing. As a human Chiropractor I treated her using my best guess approach based on my understanding of adjusting and spinal anatomy. Even using my best guess had a notable effect on my dog so I decided that I wanted to pursue training and certification in the field of animal chiropractic. I completed my post doctorate training in Animal Chiropractic at Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic in Wellsville Kansas. To be certified one must be either a Doctor of Chiropractic or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and requires an additional 210 hours of graduate level study beyond the completion of a Doctorate degree.
I love working with animals. Although I see everything from llamas and goats to dogs, cats and horses, I have to admit I am partial to treating dogs. It is very gratifying to watch an animal transition from stiff and painful to a relaxed and happy creature and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to provide care for the creatures we share our live with.
I look forward to meeting you all.
David J. Powell, DC, CAC, IVCA
