Dana Babb, Lead Instructor

Service Dog Training, Puppy Kindgergarten, Basic Obedience, Beyond Basics and Competition Obedience Instructor

Dana Babb has been teaching people to train their dogs throughout the U.S. and Western Europe since 1974. She and her late husband of 35 years, CMSGT Larry L. Babb USAF Ret. (1948–2008) worked on a contract basis with the Ramstein and Vogelweh Military Recreation Centers to provide the largest American community outside the U.S. with the specific skills needed to allow dogs to accompany their owners on trains and buses, into restaurants, department stores, hotels and other public accommodations in West Germany and other European countries.

After Larry’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they returned to the Pacific Northwest and founded Paws-Abilities in 1988 and offered classes on a contract basis for the Renton Technical College, the Humane Society and SPCA in Bellevue, and the City of Renton Parks & Recreation Department. In the early 1990s they opened Paws-Abilities Training Center in Tukwila, Washington.

Dana’s training method combines a common sense approach to dog obedience and contemporary positive motivational techniques, helping dog owners see that “Every Dog Has Paws-Abilities!” Her specialties include Service Dog Training, Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Beyond Basic Obedience, Tricks & Games, and Refinement. Her experience of working with dogs and people spans decades, including work with children to explain, encourage and demonstrate responsible behavior with and around dogs, work with alert dogs (hearing, medical, seizure, migraine, diabetic) and assist dogs for ambulatory and chair-bound individuals, work with psychiatric assist dogs, and work with therapy and rehabilitation for abused dogs.
